We (Susan and Marilyn) are members of a local Indivisible group. In July 2025 we learned about the One Million Rising Project, went through the first training session, and decided to join the project and host meetings

  • Created two lists of friends and neighbors that, like us, were motivated to "do something" about the dismantling of our democracy and sent out invitations.

  • Held four meetings in August and September and followed the OMR suggested agendas.

  • Meetings began with a 'check-in' activity, sharing what political actions we had taken part in and who we were following on Substack. One member mentioned Simon Rosenberg's 'Hopium Chronicles'.

  • A couple of us checked it out after the meeting. We liked the "Think Globally, Act Locally" nature of the project and felt it that would resonate with our group.

  • The homework assignment for our next meeting: Check out the Hopium Chronicles site and read about the Resolutions Project.

  • The September 22 meeting was the beginning of our journey to create a Resolutions Project for Washington County.

  • We brainstormed ideas for the Resolution, developed a task timeline, assigned tasks, and gave ourselves a name: Concerned Citizens of Washington County (CCOWC).

  • Currently we have 45 members on our list, meet roughly two times a month and have an average attendance of 16 at our meetings.

Accomplishments as of 11/8/2025

· approved a draft of our Resolution: 'Resolution in support of the rule of law"

· compiled a spreadsheet of 'potential endorsers' for our Resolution and identified CCOWC members willing to make contact

· created supporting documents to use as talking points when contacting endorsers and examples of cover letters and follow up letters

· created a timeline for our process to get our resolution submitted to the Washington County Board of Commissioners (BCC) for a public hearing and a vote

· identified a Washington County Commissioner to sponsor our resolution

· started to collect endorsement signatures and keeping track of our progress

Next Steps

· get a hearing date set with BCC, hopefully mid-January 2026

· contact media and write press releases

· share our work with other cities and counties in the Portland Metro area

· identify people to testify at the public hearing

· connect with other groups, cities, counties in the Portland Metro area to tell them about our Resolution project
